SOS Host Club.

You know the drill by now. Animania screening, lack of anything else to blog about, views expressed are not the official stance but my personal ones, so on and so forth.

In bold once again for Maximum Exposure: April 7th 2007, from 1600h to 2359h. Yes, we're aware that it's the day before Easter. This may or may not cause a few problems, but que sera and all that. Admission is free, raffle tickets (to support the club) is one dollar each, and I am still tall(ish), Asian, and trying to cricketize the world one exposure to the SOS Brigade logo at a time.

1600h – Bartender episodes 1-3 (ANN entry)

Over five thousand dollars' worth?

A bartender with the special ability to make the exact drink needed for the situation, called "God's Glass", helps various people with their problems by, well, listening to them. While getting them drunk. Or something. It's not really anything other than people talking about life over alcohol, so I suppose it can be classed under "slice of life", concerning the slice that is one bar and one bartender with the divine distillations or something.

1715h – Busou Renkin episodes 10-13 (ANN entry)

Death from above.

It's the end of the twins' story arc, and the start of another one. Sadly, we're not going to be able to actually finish the new story arc in question, but we may well run this series through Summer. For what it's worth, at least the SUPA SAIYAJIN transformations and BUT I AM NOT LEFT-HANDED power-posings don't take ten episodes to finish.

No, I don't have a very high opinion of shounen action series. Still, Busou Renkin has managed to win my respect with its characters and humour, and definitely its quick pace, which I think is a major part of why I'm actually still following the series.

1855h – D.Gray-man episodes 1-3 (ANN entry)

Clipboard smack.

A boy named Allen with a cursed Left Hand of Largeness or whatever it's called joins a group of similar exorcists to fight demons called Akuma. To be honest, I haven't actually seen much of this past the first episode and a bit of the second. It does have an interesting blend of comedy and horror, mostly with Allen's reactions to the wackiness of the other exorcists, and then suddenly there's a creepy monster out of nowhere. I'm not sure what it's all really about or whether I'd like it (I love humour, hate horror), so this is more or less as much a mystery to me as anyone else.

I have to admit, for full disclosure, that I'd probably be more interested in it if there were more cute girls in it. Yes, I'm shallow.

2010h – Break: Anime Music Videos

Curry!

Once again, you have a choice: to eat a dinner which you (hopefully) know the source of, or to watch AMVs which you don't, at least until Kalium writes The List. So, do you like to live dangerously? Do you?

2110h – Ouran High School Host Club episodes 24-26 (ANN entry)

The Other Haruhi.

And we're done with the show. The last few episodes of Ouran High School Host Club deal with the romance angle fairly heavily, which, oddly enough, doesn't really interest me that much. I suppose what I liked about the show were the amusing, yet not too wacky, situations that the Host Club found themselves in, entirely by circumstance rather than an active attempt by a character.

Well, except for Renge. Because Renge is awesome.

2220h – Raffle

Nyoro~n

Raffle tickets are one dollar each. You may buy as many as you wish, but you are only entitled to one "nyoro~n" per prize.

2230h – Death Note episodes 10-12 (ANN entry)

Split Screen Action!

As may be obvious by now, I still don't have a source for Death Note, and I think this is the longest I've seen a show run for even after licencing announcement. In any case, not knowing (or much caring) what happens in these episodes, you shall have to settle for whatever amusing comments I may have made, in some bizarro alternate universe, via the MAGIC of quantum uncertainty.

Or something.

In case Viz decides to send us a Cease And Desist letter for Death Note just before the screening, we do have a backup of Sad Girls In Snow. No, really; Kanon (2006 KyoAni version) is to be shown in that eventuality. The first three episodes of that are when Yuuichi is still in snarky Kyon mode, before all the plot twists and ANGST of the later episodes. I mean, I love Kanon, but angst is simply not my thing. (Yeah, I kind of lost a lot of interest by the second half.)

Busou RENKIN!

You're asking me to do work. You should know better.

  2. RDrake says:

Erm… did you really have to use a GT wallpaper for your AMV pic? Cos it does not quite compute, lolz…

But if you managed to find a AMV made from GT, then I WANT!!!

  3. DKellis says:

@RDrake: Actually, it's the GT camp curry scene for the dinner break. I had the option of emphasizing the AMVs or the food.
